2. SYNOPSIS

Bruce (Jim Carrey) is a local television reporter in Buffalo, New York, best known for his humorous stories and human interest, which makes everyone happy , but him. Bruce would prefer to replace the presenter who is about to retire or at least, reporting significant news from international hot sites. Essentially, Bruce is unhappy with most of his life and rarely misses an opportunity to complain about it. He has a girlfriend, Grace (Jennifer Aniston), who runs a daycare, which is happy with his life and loves it despite its negative aspects. While he dreams of becoming a legend, she tries to help the world every day. In the worst day in the life of Bruce, is fired from the station and beaten by a gang of tough guys, who then attack their car. Furious, Bruce attacked the Lord for his rotten luck ... followed this by a curious series of signals that lead ultimately to an old, nondescript building called Omni Presents, Inc. There, Bruce meets a oddball (Morgan Freeman), who finally reveals his true identity: He is God! Heard Bruce's complaints and now has an offer to make: endowing Bruce with all his powers, God challenges him to take over the great job ... and see if we can do better.

3. WHY " As God" IS A FILM CAREER? NOTES FOR THE ENTERTAINER.

present a comedy to be aware that talk of vocation does not have to be serious and dramatic. We can also get something the advantage of a comedy, although the protagonist is Jim Carrey. Thankfully, Morgan Freeman and Jennifer Aniston make up such nonsense.

Rather than speak directly to a vocation, " Almighty" is a film that will help us to reflect on prayer, which is essential in spiritual life. Also, being a not very successful comedy (the original idea is good but not the development that makes Jim Carrey) we can work with adolescents as it reflects some misconceptions that they have about prayer and the power of God.

We assume

that Bruce is a believer. Believe in God if only to complain and blame all the failures of his life. Is a person without a positive self image, which does not value what you have and who sees everything from a negative standpoint. He has a dream (being a presenter) and believes that everything turns against you for not being able to be. But then again, Bruce is a selfish, everything looks and judges from itself. Their married life revolves only around him. The selfish side will be multiplied to infinity when he takes his status "divine" as used their powers for personal gain, causing even natural disasters and social conflicts (the protests by the lottery). When "God" reminds you that takes a week with his powers and asks "Who have you helped?", Bruce is unable to respond.

One fateful day he loses his job and get a beating from some thugs. In this situation, makes a perfectly normal sentence ("I need guidance, send a signal") at the same time being unable to see a series of road signs that alert you to problems.

And God? How God appears in the film? Since he will understand better what should be prayer. For me there is something left to chance the presentation of a "black God." This gives, without doubt, to discuss the image we have of God. In this regard, the director Tom Shadyac says: " There are a million ways to play God. You speak from a burning bush, a mountain or a sunset. Our approach was to find a complete human being, full of dignity, power, sense of humor and a bias. Morgan embodied humanity and divinity in a way that we thought perfect for this movie, so we did not give a second choice. " But much better is the presentation as "a man of cleaning" a store called "Ommni Presents." Does the power of God is actually a service?. Tom Shadyac adds Bruce Almighty speaks to our concerns: What is this force called God? What is it that this force does in our lives? How do we relate to it? In its theme, the film is ultimately a story about what the source of true power . "

Thus, when "God gives Bruce his powers, given two rules: not to tell anyone that he is God and not to alter or amend the personal freedom (free will .) And here, in this respect for the freedom of people, is where "good" of the matter. The paradoxical climax of the story occurs when Grace leaves "God" (Bruce) because he has been unfaithful. Protest he asks God how he can make you want without affecting their will. And here lies the key to the man-God, freedom and grace. This reminds us of Yahweh's love affair with his people Israel, but in the Bible is the woman (Israel) who abandons God to find other loves (which is more logical than the script of the film).

If we start from the conviction that God respects freedom of the human being created, how we understand our prayer? It is necessary to find another model of prayer that is not only the petition. Praise and thanksgiving, prayers of contemplation ... are "purer" (if allowed the expression) and less meaning.

At the end of the movie, God makes a series of questions that we leave for the debate: "since when people know what you want?, What is a miracle? .

Finally a warning. Encourage a debate about "if I were Bruce with rotten in God, what would you do? "I think it's a waste of time that would lead to an unreal world.

Finally, last comment film director: "The question we pose in the film was made by mystics, sages, saints and the common man since the dawn of time. And frankly, we do not have the answers. We are not to make dogmatic assertions, but to ask questions, to provide an entertaining experience. A modern parable, if you want ... with a sense of humor. "

4. MATERIALS FOR FILM WORK

4.1. View and analyze.

- what would Bruce description?

- do you think Bruce's dream (to be news presenter) corresponds with the qualities you have?

- what do you suggest that God is a black and engaged in mopping floors?

- what signs showing the beggar calls you the most? What role do these signs in the film?

- Bruce criticizes God many things, when it takes its power do you really, Bruce does all that they once had thrown in the face of God? Explain your opinion

- make a description of Bruce at the end of the film, what has changed?

- in your opinion, what is the message the film director wanted to convey?

- what is the prayer for the film?

4.2. Challenges us.

- blame God from your failures, problems and difficulties?

- what a miracle for you? Based on your description, what you know or have experienced miracles?

- Bruce accuses God saying, "you look at the sky and do nothing", do you think your sentence fits with this way of seeing things?

- how do you pray? What do you say, do you ask?

- protests against God does not grant you what you ask?

- how similar / similarities the relationship between Bruce, Grace and God-man?

- what "powers" God has given you?

- after seeing this film, how you changed something in their image of God? What has brought you the movie?

- what elements will help change your understanding of prayer?

4.3. pray

1. appropriate song

2. Psalm 22: The Lord is my Shepherd

(Read the psalm quietly. First, all together, slowly. After personally silent. Make echoes the same. In the end I reread all together)

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want :

In verdant pastures he gives me repose;

leads me beside still waters

he restores my soul;

guide me right paths,

for the honor of name.

Though I walk through the valley of darkness,

I fear no evil for you are with me:

Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

a table before me,

of my foes;

anoint my head with oil,

and my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

every day of my life,

and dwell in the house of the Lord

for years without end

God 3.Palabra Ez 16, 4-17

This biblical text is of outstanding beauty. A useful introduction to present the relationship between God and Israel as a love affair between a young man who has given everything for his beloved. It is a relationship asymmetric, ie, God gives himself to Israel than just receive. However, she forgets everything and find the love of other men. God is a complaint of love that has broken his heart because his "girl has gone to another."

4.Silencio. Reflection. Spontaneous prayer

5. Psalm 136

(each reads a sentence and the entire group meets the refrain "His love endures forever" to highlight this conviction of God's love)

BECAUSE YOUR LOVE IS ETERNAL

Praise the Lord, he is good:

his love endures forever.

Give thanks to the God of gods:

his love endures forever

Praise the Lord of lords:

his love endures forever .

Only he did great wonders:

his love endures forever.

He did wisely heaven:

his love endures forever.

The consolidated land on the water:

his love endures forever.

The lights did giants

his love endures forever.

The sun to rule the day:

his love endures forever.

The moon rules the night:

his love endures forever.

God forgave my weakness:

his love endures forever.

And freed me from the darkness:

his love endures forever.

With a mighty hand, with a strong arm:

his love endures forever.

God gives me grace:

his love endures forever.

God created in me a new hope

his love endures forever.

And I called for a new life:

his love endures forever.

In our humiliation remembered us:

his love endures forever.

And freed us from our oppressors

his love endures forever.

He gives food to every living thing:

endures forever his love.

DAD THANKS TO GOD THE SKY:

BECAUSE YOUR LOVE IS ETERNAL.

2. SYNOPSIS

The story takes place in Saint-Pierre (1850), a small French island not far from Canada. One night, a man is brutally murdered. The culprit, Neel Auguste was sentenced to death. The method chosen, as an example and following the dictates of the metropolis, is the guillotine. But on the island there is no guillotine or executioner whatsoever. The French governor promises to remedy the situation, but that will be a huge wait, because the deadly device to come from Paris. Meanwhile Neel under the custody of the Captain and humbly awaiting execution. The Captain's wife, is particularly interested in the fate of Neel, who see in goodness and simplicity. She refuses to accept that man can be cruel and confident their rehabilitation at all costs. During that period of time, with the help of his benefactor, and against the local authorities consider the condemned man becomes more popular and indispensable part of the island, but when the guillotine arrives, it should be justice and meet sentence.

3. WHY "The Widow of Saint-Pierre" IS A FILM CAREER. NOTES FOR THE ENTERTAINER.

We are facing an impressive film based partially on a true story occurred during the 20's. The potential does not provide for vocational work are immense given the variety of looks that can be done. It will be the moderator who will have to emphasize the elements that most interest with respect to the group that is going to work.

Patrice Leconte therefore gives us a triptych of characters, among which is the Lady La (Juliette Binoche), who carries more importance. But both the Lady's, and Nell and her husband, the man condemned to death, offering a variety of interesting aspects. We watched in pure love, a love to think of another above oneself, a true love that moves in a triangle of characters, which all give and all receive, a love under threat of death, the guillotine, which in French is called popular veuve (widow). I offer the following paragraph (which is not wasted by the depiction of the couple) taken from http://www.bloggermania.com/content/view/2618/2/

"In other plane are located the captain and his wife, who form a modern marriage at the time. In bourgeois society, cruelly portrayed in the meetings room, Madame La-noble woman who has left the City to follow her husband to a kind of exile-known for his independence of spirit, solidarity and openness. That attitude is possible through the love and support that gives it its prestigious husband. The captain is a solitary, follower of his duty, but he has his own ideas, which makes him a marginal man, protesting. Able to bypass the rules for a just reason, together they face the gossip and local authorities, for whom death sentence is just a hobby that relieves the boredom usual "

I think would be interesting to provide a brief reference to the role of each of these three characters:

1. The Lady the one who started this movement of love, which ceased to be indifferent to decide interest in a death penalty. She asks for help take care of your greenhouse to a non- Plants have no idea. She embodies the faith and confidence of the individual above his mistakes or his dark past. Mrs. Nell's conducive to go from being a condemned man a hero. But she does not do everything alone. Trust your husband. Without their support, love and trust, could not have done. She thus becomes the voice of the other neighbors, before the death sentence.

2. Captain lives only for his wife, Lady's. His life is to love and feel what she feels. But all the time he shows master of his actions. It does not take certain decisions simply to please her against her own will. He does what he calls his wife because for him it is as fair. His strength and his personality is revealed when it succumbs to the snide comments about his wife running around the island, or when faced with all the aristocracy. His love for his wife is so great that she has no doubt at any time. For me is the most enigmatic of the three: for the love of his wife refuses to justice the offender, knowing that it will lead to death. His sentence before being executed, "can not do anything to us, I love you," leaves us the assurance of a transcendent love, which remains beyond death.

3. The convicted Nell is redeemed not death that manages to avoid the end, but a social condemnation. Surprisingly receive free love and trust of the Lady's and this makes it change, grow. It also springs from love when it decides to marry, but especially when presented as the first volunteer to tow the guillotine to ground thinking more of his wife and unborn baby, who in himself. He knows that the death sentence will come sooner or later, but until then does nothing to help the community.

This film will help to deepen the idea of vocation as "madness of love." There are things in life, usually the most important, are not explained with the reasoning, but with the heart, with passion, in short, to love. The vocation is one of them.

is worth noting that the action of helping Nell is something done in pairs. The Lady and her husband's will to become personally involved. The couple's love is firm throughout the order. Although it suggests the presence of temptation, love is a strong and seamless. There is chemistry in this pair that communicates with expressive glances and silences, which reaches its climax in that memorable dialogue in which Madame La prepares Neel evasion. "What look is that?" Asks her husband. "The look of a man who loves his wife and can read everything in their eyes," he replies. It could work very well the vocation of marriage and its social implication, from the couple.

Other issues are also presented for discussion and debate, including the death sentence. But I would highlight another: going against the law considered as unfair. Opposing the death of Nell, the captain know in advance that will be convicted and executed. In some ways reflects the attitude of Jesus of Nazareth that eludes death, but the look face to face and decide to go ahead with its project of the Kingdom of God.

4. FILM MATERIALS FOR WORKING

4.1. View and analyze

I think the most interesting is to work each of the three characters principal: Mrs. A, her husband and Nell. Three groups could be made for everyone to be responsible for study in some depth a single character. In the end, a pooling will lead to shared dialogue. These could be questions for the study:

1.describe the character both at the beginning of the film, as its evolution over the same.

2. What is the relationship with the other two characters? How you influence others? How it will affect them?

3.Trata to imagine your character write a letter at the end of the film. Write it.

The pooling can use three cards, one for each character, which is positioned as if they were the vertices of a triangle. They will be scoring the traits and characteristics of each character. Then, by way of arrows between the cards will be written about and other influences that are made in the film, as has been reflecting each group.

A question for all: what is at the center of the triangle? What makes you stay in balance?

4.2. We challenges

- with what character do you most identify? Why?

- do you seem logical or reasonable that the captain refuses to execute Nell? What do you have done?

- if you were an immigrant, would you have accepted the job of executioner?

- what aspect of your current life is reflected in the film?

- what movie is what you suggest, you ask?

- following the movie how would you define love?

4.3. pray

1. Appropriate song to get into the celebratory

2. LET'S SEE

Let's see if it is true that we love

we look at ourselves inside a little

There are things hanging that hurt him

mopping the floor and open the doors!

delete the names of the blacklist,

enemies put on the dresser,

Let us invite them to soup.

Let's play the flutes of fools, of the simple.

God if you are comfortable low.

(Gloria Fuertes)

3. Proclamation of 1 Cor 13

If he spoke all the languages

of men and angels

and have not love,

am as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal;

and if having the gift of prophecy

and know all mysteries and all knowledge,

and so much faith to remove mountains,

if I have no love, I am nothing;

and though I bestow all my goods

and surrender my body to the flames,

not having love,

I gain nothing.

Love is patient,

love is kind;

not envy,

does not boast,

is not presumptuous ;

is not rude,

not seek its own,

not provoked,

thinks no evil;

not rejoice at wrong,

but rejoices with the truth;

all-forgiving love,

always trusts,

always hopes,

all tolerated.

Everything will pass, but love.

(Allow a moment of silence echoes that make the text)

7.SI THE LOVE WE MADE

If we do make love

shoulder

shoulder

fatigue fatigue

and tear with tear.

If we did one.

each other.

next to each other.

Above gold and snow,

even beyond the gold and the sword.

If a block did not crack

with six billion

of red hearts that beat us ...

how beautiful architecture

would rise from the mud!
