Sweden, XIV century. The Black Death ravaged Europe. The Swedish knight Antonius Block and his loyal squire return home, after ten years of fruitless fighting in the Crusades to the Holy Land. Returns as a man tormented and plagued by doubts, and Death has claimed it. With hoping to get some knowledge before his death, the knight challenges Death to a game of chess. Man seeks answers to key questions of life, death and the existence of God during a game of chess. Unanimously hailed as one of the great masterpieces of Bergman.

3. WHY "The Seventh Seal" IS A FILM CAREER. NOTES FOR THE ENTERTAINER.
We are in a movie that is pure art. However for those not accustomed to classic cinema may seem a bit slow. For this we should make a good motivation to start to give you some key points or guidance. What
see in this classic work of Ingmar Bergman is not only a great reflection on death and therefore of life. The black plague that is killing thousands of people in medieval Europe provokes different reactions, different poses. However there is one word pervasive throughout the film, the fear. In general, all are frightened by what is sensed as the end, the apocalypse of the world and death that haunts everyone equally and who no one escapes. The same director made this presentation of his work: "This film is not intended as a realistic picture of Sweden in the Middle Ages. It is an attempt of modern poetry, which reflects the life experiences of a modern man in a way that is very loosely medieval events. In the Middle Ages people lived in fear of the plague. Today they live in fear of the atomic bomb. The Seventh Seal is an allegory with a very simple man, the eternal search for God and death as the only certainty. "
Antonius Block is a distressed gentleman whom death has been awarded a prologue while playing a game of chess. During this extra time to solve their existential questions and find meaning in life, looking to do something important, a good deed that inner peace. Le anguish not knowing what lies beyond death, God is a pure invention of the fear of man. Feels God within himself, but wants to come to him by the mere reasoning and not by faith: "I understand, not believe." It is worth stopping at the scene of the "confession" made in a church where we can actually see your troubled spirit.
His squire John is a buffoon "who laughs at death, curse of God and is indifferent to the whole world." His attitude is that the mere present with no horizon of transcendence in life. For him death is the end, so the reflections mocks his master and says openly: "You will not find anyone to listen to your prayers." However with the imminent death of the girl rebels ordered by this nonsense of life.
"The gentleman and his squire are two opposing characters. We say that contrast and complement. The gentleman is concerned about finding God, to know what is behind the death, wants to be prepared for that moment, on the contrary, his squire, is more earthy, wants to live life and enjoy "(taken from http://www .cinefania.com/movie/200506 /).
Joseph, Mary and Michael is a family that is part of a small company of comedians and singers. Go a world tormented by fever and fear to entertain those people who have no interest in his show. Joseph has a secret he shares with his wife, is able to have visions and apparitions. Mary for her part does not take seriously many times but loves and accepts you as is. Many of the criticisms I have consulted almost no notice of this family that has, from my point of view, the great reason to hope for "The Seventh Seal."
And then there's the death that does its job, which gives no prologue and no one who escapes. Or so she thinks. Throughout the various meetings he has with the gentleman to continue their departure will discover in it an evolution, a change. First it is lively, with no major worries or troubles. What is this? The gentleman just enjoy the simple things: a group of friends sitting in the field, strawberries, a bowl of fresh milk, a happy child ... Enjoy a daily occurrence giving a dimension of transcendence ("I will never forget this day") makes you see life differently.
At another point he noted the death really changed, just the end of the game. The gentleman feels at peace because she made the last good deed: to distract the death to the family of Michael to escape. "The minstrel, Joseph and his wife, Mary, with her beautiful baby are the real winners. They will not die (for now). The knight saves. It's that little gesture that he elevates and redeems and no participation in the Crusade. Although no faith, and wants it, as the San Miguel Bueno de Unamuno, Anton does this small act of friendship distracted to death for the three flee and be saved. Anton knows that it leads to death and that their game of chess is not just a useless trick. But save those three beings full of purity is its particular action, which will save him, finally. Which will make you feel that your life has had a purpose, far from death and destruction of his crusade, away from the coldness and loneliness of being away from home "(from http://arteyliteratura.blogia.com/ 2007/111401-sesiones-dobles.-segunda-sesion-el-septimo-sello-de-ingmar-bergman.php)
And why Miguel escapes death? Precisely because of their views. He saw death when others only see it at the last moment of his life. His eyes were transcendent beyond warned material. But not only that. I think that we should not overlook the role played by his family. The other characters are somewhat broken family, but in the relationship of Joseph and Mary ("names chosen at random?) Discovered a tender and sincere love, a love which has also conceived a child. Is not that child the antidote against death? Also worth considering is a family of minstrels and troubadours, crazy people, funny, poetic. While yields Fair and leaves the stage because of the difficulties, they continue to do their part.
Some say that from his experience Lutheran, Bergman has two dimensions of life in a way limited to: the reason the gentleman in front of magical faith of Joseph. You have to really consider whether faith and reason have to be separated in life.
not be overlooked that being a black and white film director plays nicely with contrasts. It would be nice to draw attention to certain levels: the gentleman in black and white minstrels.
The Seventh Seal is thus a great movie that helps us reflect on the meaning of life, the presence of God, faith, death and how we stand at all. They are universal themes that we have all ever thought that shape our experience and vocation. "Ingmar Bergman wrote and directed in his usual theatrical style, a gloomy book full of philosophy, theology and critical thinking against the existential dilemma posed by the end of our lives, a moment of reflection and analysis against what was done or not was alive, and ultimately, best forgotten, in order not to suffer from nostalgia when you get to the only security that each person has in this life, soon each and every one of us has to die "( taken from The gadfly. http://www.alohacriticon.com/elcriticon/article1126.html) propose

-PSALM IN SEARCH OF THE MEANING OF LIFE
started out as if from a dream, so I'm sorry, Lord Jesus.
begin to taste the dawn of a new dawn, and something like peace after the storm.
A rainbow is open about my life in search and now I know that after the storm comes the calm.
Lord Jesus, Lord of calmness and serenity, come with me on this new road opening.

I want Lord put in my eyes.
I want to open the eyes of your heart and with 'new eyes to see' look at the light and look for the goodness and beauty, truth and love in my heart hidden and silent.
I, Lord, build my life from life.
I raise my flight from a responsible freedom.
truth I want to make my way from the truth.
I, Lord, to live love and service from Love
I need you, You are the answer to my search.

Lord Jesus, I want a meaning for my life, I want to grow
looking for reasons for my existence;
find the ideal, the standard model of being human.
I, Lord Jesus, guide my life, give direction;
know the reason of my home, where I come.
I want the river of my life has its source in you.
I know the reason for what you do in life
know if my life worth living.
I want the meaning of my life be you. I know where
way to know which is the destination and the goal of my life.
I want you, Christ the Lord, you be the end of my road.

Lord Jesus, I want a life support from outside. I do not want crutches
not let me go away.
not want media that does not bear with my freedom. I do not want patches
my way, or masks to my problems.
hands I do not push me or give rope to my failure.
not want to stay in the skin of things while my heart is starving.
not want to opt for death, destruction, things that are just, by the smoke of straw.
not want to live on the surface, from the skin.
life I will not be empty, wasted life.

Lord Jesus I live strong, and from within!.
Lord Jesus, I ask you strength to choose.
Force to choose as a person, man.
Force to choose a sturdy faith in you
to opt for the community in which they live.
Force to choose a life plan;
to opt for those in need of help.
Force to choose a life without end;
to choose and live always determined to start anew.

Lord Jesus, open my eyes to the light of your truth.
Open my eyes to the human heart that transcends;
to the values \u200b\u200bof your kingdom.
Open my eyes to the goodness and tenderness, forgiveness, justice, brotherhood, truth, the purity and simplicity.
Lord Jesus, open my eyes to the values \u200b\u200bthat are not finished.
Lord Jesus, open my eyes beyond your death: a light and freedom of your Resurrection.

You, Lord Jesus, you're here in my new path.
You, Lord Jesus, you are here and offer me your life project.
I tell you:
are the answer to my question;
're the reason my reasons.
I tell you:
are the ideal of man I want;
you the project that I assume.
I tell you:
are the Person and the program of my life;
you the meaning of my life.

2.SINOPSIS

This exciting urban thriller tracks the fleeting encounter between a group of characters of different races who struggle to overcome their fears as they enter and leave the lives of others: a black police detective with a drug-addicted mother and a missing brother, two car thieves constantly theorizing on society, the busy district attorney and his irritable wife, a racist veteran cop (caring for her sick father) who does not like his young, idealistic partner, a successful television director and his haughty wife, a Persian immigrant who buys a gun, a Hispanic locksmith and his young daughter etc.

3. WHY "Crash" IS A FILM CAREER? NOTES FOR THE ENTERTAINER.

After seeing this great movie one is overwhelmed. However it is a film that tells a story, rather it is a picture of our Western society, especially the U.S. (Los Angeles). There are many stories told in a sequence of a few hours interwoven stories (you facing?), Stories of prejudice, racism, violence, fear, drama, humiliation ... In this sense, Alberto Abuín writes: " Haggis takes the city \u200b\u200band its characters, launches into space, and let them have a authentic and brutal clash between them. Browse through the fears and hopes of each, with rudder insurance. Some are hateful, other adorable, and the other a union of both. The mix, faces, and acts as almost a God to them, directing their lives at all times, making them go through extreme situations, and making them see that despite the stupid racial differences, and what can be this fucking life there's always room for understanding, for acceptance, for forgiveness, for love . "

However, we do not see extremely violent action to harm the sensitivity. The director makes a masterpiece to the story and history interspersed with moments of calm, quiet images and relaxing music to transcend. It gives us the opportunity to overcome what we see, to do our what we have referred and, above all, ask lots of questions, questions about the meaning of life and the world. And here is where we enter our vocational reflection. You can not focus on the characters as they are many. Neither in its evolution, as the story unfolds in just a day and a half. We are interested in film as a whole as a reflection of life and our place in the socidad.

Crash reflects the multicultural society U.S. where racism and stereotypes towards different and abroad are on the agenda. Reflects the distrust towards others in an urban society. Everything is confusing and all are labeled, no matter they are Persian, not Arab, Thai and not Chinese. The man acts out of fear and that is protected with guns. A fear that grips even those who have migrated to the "land of opportunity." "Crash" is a film about people, about the mood swings and spiritual dimensions of living in the city. In this sense, beyond each particular story, the main focus of the film falls on the psychology of the characters, their fears, paranoia, their suffering, their distance from the other, their anger, their violence, discrimination and racism. While each of the protagonists facing a particular situation, there is something that transcends what is happening and that serves as a link in common of all: the essential silence of most of his characters, the sense of infinite loneliness that invades the oppression suffered by feel so disjointed and disconnected with the world " (Leandro Marquez)

We are witnessing the escalation of violence, as experienced by the black host, which was innocent foolishly Police deal with a sense of revenge. We see a human being that knows no kindness with aggressive reactions and impulses that are sometimes surprising. Yes, sometimes we are surprised ourselves how aggressive we can be. We see a human being living in a bad mood since dawn. And worst of all, without knowing why, without finding reasons. We are witnessing the helplessness felt by some to want to deal with this dumb racist being manipulated. A human being ambiguous because neither the bad guys are as bad or good so good. So it remains a success that the director buries stereotypes of villains and heroes. Both are capable of doing and having the worst acts of generosity. It is sometimes the enemy becomes the friend and the friend from foe. It's all so complex!

The title Crash-Crash "is a whole definition and well presented at the beginning of the film:" You spend about people in LA nobody touches you, we miss the contact. We hit just to get back in touch . " It's the same message shown on the official website: " Moving at the speed of life, we are doomed to collide with each other." This comment is totally revealing: " tissue narrative is structured around the various collisions that are established between each of them encounters that could be simplified in accidents traffic, but whose substance deeper significance to shock us back in life get each one of us in the depths of our being. Shock as first-order narrative material, the impact, the confrontation between two opposing realities, between the cultures that inhabit a space that is continuously generate conflict within it a hotbed of incompatibilities, hatred, selfishness and violence "(taken from: http://www.miradas.net/2006/n46/criticas/01_crash.html ).

Against this background, it is the viewer can not help wondering what's all so much violence? Why hatred? Is there no other way to solve things, relate to each other? What has been the message of the Good News of Jesus? "I do the same? "I react the same way? What I can do to change this cycle of violence and aggression?

However, in the midst of all this is a scene that is the counterpoint of hope, openness to transcendence. When the Persian aiming the gun at a locksmith, your daughter is going to save because it has "a protective mantle." The simplicity, purity, selflessness and love of a girl who can not understand the danger they face, make the emergence of a miracle no one dies, all are saved and the aggressor, redeemed. He, who needed a gun to feel protected, it being protected by his angel. No doubt this scene is a ray of hope and lift us from this spiral of violence.

Crash got the 2005 Oscars for best picture, script and editing, and help us reflect on the meaning of life, violence, relationships with others and our mission in this so often violent world.
