2.SINOPSIS
Frankie Dunn (Clint Eastwood) has trained and managed some incredible fighters during a lifetime spent in the ring. The most important lesson he teaches his boxers is the one who leads his own life: above all, always protect yourself. After a painful estrangement from his daughter, Frankie has been unable for a long time to get close to anyone. His only friend is Eddie (Morgan Freeman), an ex-boxer who looks after Frankie's gym and knows that behind the gruff exterior of his colleague, a man who goes to Mass every day for 23 years, seeking a redemption that continues to elude him. Then Maggie Fitzgerald (Hilary Swank) appears one day in his gym. Maggie has never had much, but it does have something that very few people in the world has: he knows what he wants and is willing to do whatever it takes to get it. In a life of constant struggle, Maggie has come to where he is relying on his innate talent, impassive concentration and tremendous willpower. But more than anything, I just want someone to believe in it. The last thing Frankie needs in this world is to assume such responsibility, not to mention risk. Bluntly, he describes the bitter reality Maggie: she too old, and he does not train girls. But the word 'no' has no meaning when you have no choice. Unable to leave his greatest ambition in life, Maggie is crushed in the gym every day, with only the support of Eddie. Finally, convinced by the unwavering determination of Maggie, Frankie begrudgingly agrees to train her. Inspired and exasperated each other as they go on, both will discover that they share a spirit that transcends pain and loss of its past, and find each other that feeling of family they lost long ago. What I do not know is that soon will face a battle that will require more effort and courage than any they have known.
3. WHY "Million Dollar Baby" IS A FILM CAREER? NOTES FOR THE ENTERTAINER.
confess to present a didactic commentary on Million Dollar Baby is not easy, especially if you want to be brief with reference to the time, everything has been said and written about this great film of surprising Clint Eastwood. That's why we focus on those issues we find to talk and discuss about the vocation, leaving both more technical assessments as judgments about the director and actors in the interest of the educator can easily find on the Internet. However I can not resist to make some paragraphs that I found significant, culled from some critics, for those who do not have much time to read everything. Most of them can be found at the following address: http://www.labutaca.net/films/30/milliondollarbaby.htm
In a way the film introduces boxing as a metaphor for life and therefore also of vocation. Is so well done that even those who reject the violence of this spectacle, we are dragged by their strength and thirst for victory and triumph. Boxing is not just an excuse to have other deeper issues such as awareness of the maturity, the guilt of past sins, overcoming, faith, dreams and what we do to achieve them, the decision-making, love .... So quite rightly J. Rodríguez Chico has called his critics as " in the ring life."
The story is a letter written and narrated by Eddie. He joins us and gives us some clues to interpret the relationship between Frankie and Maggie, becoming "the apex of the triangle responsible to mediate, facilitate and provide another perspective on the deployment of history."
Three quarters of the film focuses on the desire for Maggie, a young headstrong and stubborn that strives to get Frankie to be her coach despite his initial rejection. This part, in itself, could be a single movie about the effort to succeed in life. Let us pause a bit to analyze the two main characters.
Frankie, in this tale of losers, "seeking redemption," says Eastwood. "It's an old Irish Catholic roots, disillusioned with life at losing the love of his daughter. That loss haunts him and he has left a great void." He, who was expert in plug of the fighters bleeding, unable to contain the bleeding wounds past. "Frankie's resistance to place their fighters in bouts of major titles he has performed several setbacks," said Eastwood. "It has become a coach superconservador, unable to see when your pupils are truly ready. While still training, mentally retired long ago." It's back to life. It has the feeling of having failed in many things in his life to try a new adventure. In fact, the reluctance to train Maggie Frankie has a much more complex. "He protects emotionally on their way through life," muses Eastwood, "becoming involved in any relationship, even a kind of father / daughter." Take your boxing life motto: protect .
Frankie and Maggie "suffer the most painful injuries caused by boxing gloves, and they hope Restena and return to fight for a dream" (J. Rodríguez Chico).
A dream on the Maggie "has staked everything," a dream that he sees no one except herself. A dream that never seem to arrive and that breaks your heart when they turn 32. In that moment of history is inflexible when almost unavoidably, Frankie becomes his coach and manager. And without realizing it, by his side, he will change, evolve and grow. " When Frankie finally agrees to prepare Maggie, becomes a love story - not a romantic, but a love story father / daughter. Maggie is the daughter who has lost and missing in his life, and he is the father she lost to be very small. And it is through this relationship as Frankie will be back to himself and reach the long-awaited redemption . "
To explain the relationship established between the characters, JL Sánchez Noriega said that "this film tells of the encounter and the evolution of the friendship between two people injured respectively by loneliness and disaffection family (...) The development of this story is the friendship that evolves from the initial distrust and teacher-student hierarchy to the good times shared success, and recognition of the maturity of the pupil and the fraternal feeling or parent-child, the true love that binds the fate of two people. That is, is the story of an encounter that transforms lives, or if you prefer, the story of the love that binds two people. "Thus," Frankie will symbolize the loving father that Maggie lost as a child and found the veteran coach a second chance to exorcise the emotional hurt that much damage being done "(MA Refoyo) However
film splits into two in an instant, an oversight of Maggie, as he was on the landing of an assault. In this turn of script is where the magic of film. It is a moment of great emotional intensity that Clint Eastwood has been recreated with great skill. The viewer's soul is broken and is then knocked out even hours after watching the film. From here you change the ring for a hospital bed, and plays the hardest battle of the person: the meaning of life and death. Eastwood, true to its principles, we moved from the typical movie and self-improvement efforts to achieve success, quite another: the failure of life. " In this sense, the pessimistic determinism that hangs over the film is relentless. And disheartening." (T. Pallejá)
Million Dollar Baby is not intended to encourage a debate on euthanasia, it is not even a power game. It's just a story to which one is dumb if you dare to judge. " The hard outcome, with characters who have the conflict of conscience before death, and approaching the abyss that awaits them if they betray their convictions, is far from the frivolous and sentimental view of Amenábar proeutanasia: here you breathe genuine respect and sensitivity to pain and who suffers, and perceived sincerity in director to raise the moral questions between an alleged "right to die" and the legality to stop putting extraordinary means to sustain life " (J. Rodríguez Chico)
the end Frankie fleeing the failure disappears of his life. His last hope to pursue happiness is gone unfairly.
With these ideas, we discuss in our group counselor about the dreams we have, success and failure in life, the wounds of our past, fear of risk and decision making, defense mechanisms that operate in our relationships, encounters that transform lives, second chances, the hand that helps us ...

I do not want to opt for death, destruction, things that are just, by the smoke of straw.
not want to live on the surface, from the skin.
life I will not be empty, wasted life

DO NOT GIVE UP
Still casting their nets. Instead of waiting. Instead of living halfway. Instead of yielding to discouragement. Because you have dreams, desires, concerns. Because you believe in who invites you to try. Check the networks to see if fish can feed the illusions and days. Take initiatives. Undertakes projects. Shared ideals. Hug and let you embrace. Sometimes I look at the world and I feel that way. Not solve the problems and dramas are multiplying, with swollen bellies and sad eyes, physical injury and those others that are not ...
I look at myself and I find myself at times indifferent, insensitive to others ... And I love stumbled. And it strikes me that your gospel does not finish wrap. And stuns me feel let you down. Lord, where are you?
Because you always go back. Also when I'm more demoralized, or perhaps especially then. And do not let me take refuge in the surrender.
I continue to call. By my name, knowing how I am. I whisper, "Cast the nets."

Since You left
have not caught anything. We
twenty centuries
unnecessarily casting the net of life,
and between its meshes
fished only emptiness. We
burning hours
and soul is dry.
We have become sterile
same as a ground cover
cement.
Are we already dead? How long
many years ago we have not laughed?
Who remembers the last time we love?
And later you come back and tell us:
"Cast the net on your right,
dare again to trust,
open your soul,
old trunk out of the
new hopes, give
heart strings,
get up and walk. "

"Our Father
" The Saints have not "fallen from heaven."
are people like us, with complicated problems.
Holiness does not consist in not making a mistake or never sinning.
Holiness grows with capacity for conversion,
of repentance, willingness to begin again,
and especially with the capacity for reconciliation and forgiveness. "(Benedict XVI )
