2.SINOPSIS

Chocolat is a fable key comedy about how you can change a person, a relationship, a city with just a taste the pleasures of life. It is a story about temptation, repression and liberating powers of the senses: the cute story about the escalating war is triggered in a small town because of the passion and the fear generated in the population after the appearance of a store of chocolates and candies.

3. WHY "Chocolat" IS A MOVIE CAREER. NOTES FOR THE ENTERTAINER

Chocolat ends with a very deliberate gesture: the smile of a statue of the town. A smile that causes the viewer to thank, so, this comedy as a fable.
The story begins and ends with one word: peace, tradition, immobility. However, a north wind is capricious to change the village of Lansquenet and free them of their most precious (that still quiet) just during Lent.

Reference to the Church is anything but positive, but it is a criticism that although exaggerated some respects, is made with taste and very healthy. In a pre-conciliar Church, enhances the rejection of all forms of pleasure, power and austerity, self-discipline, amid total confusion between the social and religious (which is the Count who does the young priest's homilies a finding this.) A church and a society that favors rejection and criticism of those who "do not go to church" and a foreigner, or those who live on the fringes of society (Roux and his friends). This aspect of the film and gives us clues for dialogue and reflection, especially discussing the image of the Church is perceived by others.

In this context, the presence of Vianne Rocher (Juliette Binoche) is a provocation. Opens a chocolate shop during Lent, is liberal, not a practitioner and has an illegitimate daughter. Without trying, she is involved in a hidden and silent war caused by the Count. Face as well, two ways of looking at life, two ways of standing before the needy. Could be also a religious confrontation, but even the religious profile of Conde appears well defined, not so with the Vianne, so we miss an alternative, another way of seeing the Church and the life of faith. This "battle" is presented in a much more graphic when Count started his "crusade" to rehabilitate Muscat, while Vianne had taken into his home to his battered wife, Josephine. The difference in the results of each grant will be obvious. In this sense, the director the director Hallström says: Chocolat "is the constant conflict in life between tradition and change. And in its deepest essence, speaks of the intolerance and the consequences of not allowing others to live their own stock and beliefs (...) El Conde De Reynaud scrutinizes the population, is sinful and violations everywhere, Vianne sees only human beings are not perfect and can forgive. "

On their way to be, having the door open and invite everyone who is about to happen and take a chocolate, chocolate is becoming rather than listening to the woes of the villagers. Josephine, the grandmother and her grandson, a couple was not going well, a trio of widows, the elderly with their dog, Roux, and even Caroline and the same final count, they pass and are transformed, releasing. Precisely Chocolat "is his splendid portrait of each character. Each one makes us human tenderness and gives us a slice of life. All carry bits of philosophy that each frame filled with emotion, every sequence (Mateo Sancho Cardiel).

Count
If slavery is against the tradition, the lineage of a family of Condes, a misconception Church and religion, Vianne is a free spirit, but while a prisoner of his destiny. She will be released when it decides to throw his grandmother's ashes to the wind. Thus, the writer gives us his interpretation Jacobs: "I felt that chocolate was, in the depths, the story of Vianne arouses in people faith in themselves and how, in turn, reimburses them for this gift the . It's not just the story of Vianne Lansquenet change, but also how changes to Vianne Lansquenet. "

One last point more interesting, the fact that Vianne has the ability to divine the tastes of each is a resource rather than interesting social life and the Christian community.

2.SINOPSIS

Captain Nathan Algren (Tom Cruise) is a man adrift. The battles fought at one time now seem distant and futile. Once he risked his life for honor and country, but in the years since the American Civil War, the world has changed. Pragmatism has replaced courage, self-interest has taken the place of sacrifice and honor is not in any par-te, especially in the West, where his role in the campaigns against the Indians ended in disappointment and sadness. Somewhere on the unforgiving plains near the banks of the Washita River, Algren lost his soul. In a completely different world, another soldier sees his way of life is about to disintegrate. It is Katsumoto (Ken Watanabe), the last leader of an ancient line of warriors, the venerated Samurai, who dedicated their lives to serving emperor and country. Just as the modern lifestyle invaded the American West, cornering and condemning the Native Americans, also broke the traditional Japan. Telegraph lines and railroads that brought progress now threaten those values and codes by which the Samurai have lived and died for centuries. But Katsumoto will not go without a fight. The paths of these two warriors converge when the young Emperor of Japan, wooed by American interests who covet the growing Japanese market, hires Algren to prepare the first modern conscript army in Japan. But when the Emperor's advisors attempt to eradicate the samurai as part of preparations for a government more Westernized and trade-friendly, Algren finds himself unexpectedly impressed and influenced by his encounters with the Samurai. His strong convictions remind him of the man he once was. Now immersed in a harsh and unfamiliar territory, with his life and, perhaps most importantly, his soul hang in the balance, the troubled American soldier in the midst of a violent and epic struggle between two eras and two worlds, relying only on his sense of honor to guide him.

3. WHY " The Last Samurai" IS A FILM CAREER? NOTES FOR THE ENTERTAINER.

The Last Samurai is presented as a typical film career from the moment we are introduced to a character identity crisis Nathan Algren (Tom Cruise) who suffered a "process of conversion." Thus serves to speak simply of vocation as such, without stopping at other specific aspects of vocational process that perhaps other films become more manifest. We

viewers of the evolution of Captain Algren, a man who has nightmares because he has lived and caused much suffering as the American soldier trying to apathy of the Indian revolts. I really do not know what it is. However, the circumstances of life (and script) will change their coordinates. Algren is now living as a "prisoner release" in the midst of another culture, another philosophy, another spirituality that will help you find yourself, to be reconciled with itself and find a sense your life. This process will be possible to give yourself the observation and discussion with their leader Katsumoto.

Perhaps what started this conversion is the fact of being gently care for women of the samurai he killed. A love that will heal your wounds first and then the spiritual body. From there, Algren will be able to go out and see this group of samurai who indulge in the discipline to achieve perfection. A lesson for our young people today. I also think it significant that education is repeated again and again: "Do not think, not think." Is it an invitation to move in the "battle of life" with emotion and intuition with reason?

Gradually, Algren will turn into a samurai, a word that means "server", server emperor and his country, and will be involved as one in a samurai battle, defenders of tradition, have to and manipulated the young emperor, a friend of Western modernity. Perhaps this clash between tradition and modernity deserves a word in the panel discussion.

Perhaps one of the most striking aspects is its determination to engage in a battle where you know you will find death. He knows that it is time of his death (as Jesus) and therefore writes his diary: " not understand the meaning of my life, but I appreciate having participated in this ." Paradoxically, when Algren has found meaning in his life, has also been found for his death. It's the same idea we find that at the end the Emperor asks how he died Katsumoto, Algren responds to what " will tell you how he lived."

One last point I find remarkable: the idea of honor. Since the beginning of the film speaks of "giving his life for honor." What really is the honor? The amuráis take their own lives when defeat has dishonored them. Do not forget that Japan is the country currently the world where most suicides are committed precisely because of this "culture of honor." Of course, here is subject to debate.

4. FILM MATERIALS FOR WORKING

4.1. View and analyze.

- describes the character of Algren at the beginning of the film. How does your life? What is your past?

- scans will have the samurai fight against (or "by") the emperor whom he venerated.

- what people and what situations do change Algren?

- how the film is reflected in the idea of "honor"?

- what Algren has changed at the end of the film?

4.2.Nos challenges.

- what is it for you the honor?

- do you ever feel trapped by fighting in another, a fight that ends up becoming your own?

"says if the discipline is important for personal development. Do you consider yourself a disciplined person?

- what old wounds have not healed yet and will continue to plague?

- who are the ones who have helped you in your life, personal history?

- what you say or suggest to you the idea of the samurai as "server"? Do you feel called to serve? Who, what?

- why are you fighting for your life?

The movie "The Last Samurai" has suggested to me the book of P. Cohelo "The Warrior of Light." The facilitator should read it, can bring ideas and suggestions for working with film. Now offer a selection of ten paragraphs to those who do not have time to read the book. Some of these paragraphs could be used even in prayer. However, the creativity of the animator is the make the best use of this material:

paragraphs culled from "The Warrior of Light "by Paulo Cohelo.

"All roads lead to world warrior heart, he plunges unhesitatingly into the river of passions always run for his life.

The warrior knows that he is free to choose what they want, their decisions are made with courage, detachment and - sometimes - with a certain amount of madness.

accepts your passions and enjoys intensely. Knows it is not necessary to give up the enthusiasm of the conquests they form part of the and happy life to all participate in them.

But he never loses sight of the enduring things, and created strong bonds over time.

A warrior knows how to distinguish what is temporary than it is definitive. "

" A warrior of light, before entering a contest important you ask yourself, "How I developed my skill?"

He knows the battles we got stuck in the past always end to teach something. However, many of these teachings made him suffer more than necessary. More than once lost his time struggling because of a lie. And suffered by people who were not at the height of his love.

The victors do not repeat the same mistake. That is why the warrior only risks his heart for something worthwhile. "

" The warrior of light reminiscent of a fragment of John Bunyan:

"Even when it has passed for what I spent, I do not regret the trouble I got because it was they who led me to where I wanted to go. Now all I have is this sword and give it to anyone wanting to continue their pilgrimage. I carry the marks and scars of combat, they bear witness to what I lived and rewards of what I conquered.

"It is these cherished marks and scars that I will open the gates of Paradise. There was a time I spent listening to the stories of exploits. There were other times when I lived simply because he needed to live. But now I live I am a warrior and I want to one day be in the company of Him for whom I fought well. "

" Every warrior of light and sometimes was afraid to go into combat.

Every warrior light has betrayed and lied in the past.

Every warrior of light has traveled a path that did not belong.

Every warrior of light and suffered from little things.

Every warrior of light and thought it was not a warrior of light.

Every warrior of the light has failed in his spiritual duties.

Every warrior of light and said yes when I wanted to say no.

Every warrior of the light has hurt someone he loved.

That is a warrior of light, it went through all that and not lost hope of being better than it was. "

" A Warrior of Light does not defer its decisions.

He thinks

well before the act, weighing their training, their responsibility and duty as a teacher. Try to remain calm and analyzes each step as if it were the most important.

However, when making a decision, the warrior goes on: no longer has doubts about what she chose, or change of route if circumstances were different than I imagined.

If your decision was right, will win in combat, even if longer than expected. If your decision was wrong, he will be defeated and will have to start all over again, but will do so more wisely.

But a warrior of light, when it starts, goes all the way. "

" The Warrior of Light meditation.

sits in a quiet place of his tent and surrenders himself to the divine light. In doing so, try not to think about anything; is disconnected from the pursuit of pleasures, challenges and revelations, and lets his gifts and powers to manifest.

Although not levied at the same time, these gifts and powers are taking care of his life, and will influence their daily work.

While he meditates, the warrior is not himself but a spark of the World Soul. It is these moments that allow you to understand their responsibility and act accordingly.

A warrior of light knows that in the silence of his heart, there is an order that directs him. "

" A Warrior light needs love.

Affection and love are part of nature, as well as eating, drinking and a taste for the good fight. When the warrior does not feel happy at a sunset, something has gone wrong.

now, stop fighting and go in search of company, to watch the sunset together.

If you have trouble finding it, ask yourself: "I was afraid to approach someone? I received love and did not see it?"

A warrior of light used alone, but is not used by it. "

" The Warrior of Light knows the importance of intuition.

In the midst of battle, no time to think the blows of the enemy. Then he uses his instinct and obeys his angel.

In peacetime, decodes the signals God sends.

People say: "He's crazy."

Or: "He lives in a fantasy world."

Or: "How can you trust something that has no logic?"

But the warrior knows that intuition is the alphabet of God, and continues to listen wind and talking to the stars "

" "Yes - heard someone say the warrior -. I need to understand everything before making a decision. I have the freedom of change your mind. "

The warrior wary of that phrase. He also may have the same freedom, but that does not stop to make a commitment, though not exactly understand why he did it.

A warrior of light makes decisions. His soul is free as the clouds in the sky, but he is committed to its owner. On his way freely chosen, have to get up at times that do not like, talk with people who do not contribute anything, make some sacrifices.

friends say: 'You're not free. "

The warrior is free. But he knows not open oven baked bread. "

" The Latin root of the word "responsibility" reveals its meaning: the ability to respond, to react.

responsible A warrior has been able to observe and training. Even been able to be "irresponsible." Sometimes flew into a situation and not respond or react.

But the lessons learned, took an attitude, was a council, had the humility to accept help.

A responsible warrior is not the one placed on his shoulders the weight of the world, but he learned to fight the challenges of the moment. "
